Now it Get's Interesting...

I guess the bond defeat will not stop the High School Planning Committee. They have divided up into sub-groups These sub-groups make it much eaiser for the administration to control the outcome as they did with the LRPC. This is a technique frequently used by educators to have a committe or focus group come to their pre-ordained consenous. See The Delphi Method for more information.

And can someone tell me why high school students are involved in this process. Geeessshhh.

One more thing, I guess the community missed the "Call to Committee" phone call from that stupid direct dial system.

  1. CCUSD parent here...If overcrowding is a problem, and the money can't be used to remodel the current high school, why can't the money be used to build a 9th grade center at the current campus? You would eliminate the overcrowding on the main campus while maitaining the same location. Was this discussed and rejected at some point? I don't remember seeing anything like this proposed.

  2. I believe that a freshman academy was proposed but the board did not like this option. Of course the only option ever proposed to the board was the one preordained at the start of the process.

  3. Correct about preordained options!

CCUSD now has about $24-5 million "in the bank" from School Facilities Board funding and from previous bond issues to construct a new "core" high school. This 800-student "core" high school would satisfy student enrollments through 2019.

  4. Can you please tell me why you think high school students should not be on the High School Planning Committee?

  5. "January 19, 2008 4:07 PM" asked why High School students should not be included on the high school planning committee 2. Sorry for the delay in an answer.

My answer is simple. These are important decisions that affect thousands of people, involve millions of tax payer dollars, and it takes a great deal of time and effort to plan and implement.

Nothing wrong with surveying students about likes, dislikes, and needs, but to have them involved on the actual committee is frankly a waste of resources and everyone's time.
