We came across some recent excellent academic news regarding our favorite district.
Congratulations to Rona Zhou of Cactus Shadows High School who was one of 2,800 National Merit Scholarship winners. Ms. Zhou received a college-sponsored award from the University of Arizona. This is a nationally recognized award and a tremendous achievement for Ms. Zhou.
We also wish to recognize the first International Baccalaureate (IB) graduates from Cactus Shadows High School. 15 students graduated with an IB diploma and have received over $1.6 million in college scholarships. Great work.
Wow! Thank you for providing some good news about our schools.

Thank you for recognizing the positive in our children, the teachers that work so hard for them to achieve and the administrators who work very long, tough hours in support of not only their schools but the district as a whole -
ReplyDeleteThe entire Sr. class received over 5.5 million in scholarships -
ReplyDeleteNo Singapore Math needed to figure this out:
ReplyDelete$5.5 million total CSHS Sr. scholarships minus $1.3 million CSHS IB scholarships = curriculum outside of IB that appears to be serving students well too!
Congratulations to all!
You must be an Everyday Math graduate! (Just having fun, calm down) :)
ReplyDeleteWe are not huge fans of IB, but we can see its place.
There were only 15 IB graduates. That is an average scholarship of $107,000, far exceeding the avaerage award for the rest of the class.
"Not huge fans of IB", yet asking for it at the middle schools? Hmmm.....
ReplyDeleteI too have tough skin, have fun all you like. Being anonymous sure makes ridicule easier to handle, doesn't it?
