More Competition for Cave Creek Unified: Cave Creek Academy

There is a new private school coming to the area with an unfortunate name likely to cause confusion with the district’s new offerings. One of our members came across their flyers at Saturday’s AAGT conference. They had flyers for both the school and for a summer program.

Cave Creek Academy school is targeting gifted and talented students. This is a great approach considering Cave Creek Unified’s anemic gifted offerings. In our opinion the clustered program is a way for the district offer the minimum (in both cost and experience) gifted program offerings. Meanwhile other districts are expanding their offerings to attract students (see PVUSD’s recent announcement about expanding its self-contained gifted programs here. More on this to come).

Their summer program is to be offered at 6535 E. Cave Creek Rd, just west of School House Rd in Cave Creek. Not sure if this is the actual campus location.

  1. Why don't you try Annunciation Catholic School, in Cave Creek? That school is full of gifted children and for half the price. Most of the kids are working at a few grades higher than the grade that they are in, and none of them are bored. Small calss sized and the teachers are all at masters level or higher. The teachers don't promote the saying "gifted", they just teach to everyone's level and it so happens that they are all in their own enclosed classroom of giftedness. They score in the 94-99% in national achievemnet tests.
