So is CCUSD buying or leasing these Mobile Computing Devices (don’t dare call them laptops because that term failed in the last Scottsdale override)? No where in the technology plan does it mention whether the district is going to buy or lease, however the tech plan budget document states that the district in 2011-2012 will spend $1,664,833 on leases as follows:
Year 1 Lease Agreement renewal for 1,855 new mobile computers (student 4:1 and teachers) $803,833.00
Year 3 Lease Agreement for 500 mobile computers (student 3:1) $217,000.00
Year 2 Lease Agreement for 1000 mobile computers (student 2:1) $434,000.00
Standard Office Suite and Operating System Agreement Renewals $210,000.00
So this begs the question, what happens when the override is finished. How will the district pay for the leases in following years. My guess, they head back to the taxpayer well. You’d think they would mention to the community now that the plan is to lease these laptops (sorry!) ad infinitum.
We live near the CCUSD schools and every morning from 7:20 to 8:00 we put up with one steady line of cars. Along with car radios blaring, shouting and failure to obey the stop signs! At certain times they speed across Dove Valley, and drive on the dirt at Rancho Paloma. Shall we get into the subject of buses that run half full hence the long line cars! Go to the private schools and see if they provide laptops to take home or the latest technology! I can guarantee their AIMS scores are higher, drop out rate lower and the percent going on to further their education is higher. All this without the latest techno. You do have nice looking ball fields after they get redone every year! There will be 3 NO votes from this home!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou obviously DON"T have kids in the system....our ball fields suck...
ReplyDeleteSorry we jam up the roads, we are trying to get our students to school DESPITE the buses...
