Newsweek’s Best High Schools List and the continuing slide of CCUSD Cave Creek Unified

So Cactus Shadows fails to make Newsweek’s Best High Schools in Arizona.  This calculation is more comprehensive broad than the Washington Post’s list that Cactus Shadows also failed to make.

Cactus Shadows did appear on the Newsweek 2010 list.

Methodology below.

So for the in the past year, Cave Creek Unified has…

To Inspire Excellence is not enough. You can call us “naysayers” but who is standing up for achievement in this district?  We would love to hear from the “yessayers” how things have improved under this governing board’s leadership.

Methodology: We enlisted a panel of experts—Wendy Kopp of Teach For America, Tom Vander Ark of Open Education Solutions (formerly executive director for education at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), and Linda Darling-Hammond, Stanford professor of education and founder of the School Redesign Network—to develop a yardstick that fully reflects a school’s success turning out college-ready (and life-ready) students. To this end, each school’s score is comprised of six components: graduation rate (25%), college matriculation rate (25%), AP tests taken per graduate (25%), average SAT/ACT scores (10%), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10%), and AP courses offered (5%).

  1. Wow what a great JOB this district is doing...I fault the board as well! When is someone going to take the shovel out of their hands??? How will we ever climb out of the hole (I mean crater) Team Burdick is digging us into.

  2. I agree..I fault the board as well! Remember, this coming year,2012 is an election year for the ccusd board. You may run or find someone that will ask questions and hold the administration accountable. Your board should represents the public not the admin..insiders!!!
The district has problems. They are hidden behind continuous excuses.

  3. Under this current administration and board I will not vote yes for any of their request. Why...because I do not trust them or feel that they act within the best interest of the children. They do not take responsibility for their actions/results and they have alienated their community. Money will not fix those issues and it is the only way I can make CCUSD understand that I do not support them.

My advice ...listen to your community! Consider the words that you don't want to hear, take responsibility for what is happening on your watch...until then any vote from me will be NOx2!

As for the board...You can't fix stupid but you can vote it out in 2012!
