For the first time CCUSD Cave Creek Unified Schools fail to make adequate progress

For the first time in district history (as far as we can tell, going back to 2003), an individual school has failed to make Adequate Yearly Progress. AYP is a federal benchmark based on results of the AIMS test.   According to the Arizona Republic, both Sonoran Trails Middle School and Cactus Shadows failed to make progress.

Now you may recall that for the past 2 years the district as a whole has failed to make AYP.  With 2 schools failing to make progress, we would imagine this would be the third year in a row that the district did not make AYP.

  1. According to the paper this morning a record number of schools, 42%, failed to make AYP.

  2. I find it interesting that the name of this group is called CCUSD Watch. Apparently, you only focus on the negative and refuse to acknowledge the positive aspects of our wonderful schools. It doesn't take too much to see how biased you really are. Do you really like to promote negativity and hate regarding public education? Why don't you be honest about your agenda? How about trying to focus on the big picture, both positive and negative? Our schools are directly linked to our property values and are a huge asset to our communities. What has watched done to improve our CCUSD schools? CCUSD Watch, Sorchych, Bentley, etc are all anti-public education, anti-tax of any kind Libertarians. Extremists (whether far left or right) are never honest when it comes to the facts.

  3. Why don't they fire Dolezal already? STMS drops to Performing Plus under his watch, and now they don't make AYP. The guy is pathetic.

  4. It was with a heavy heart that many of us left the district to find greener pastures outside our districts boundaries.

While our children miss their lifelong friends, and we miss sharing a common goal for extraordinary education opportunities within our community, we don't regret the decision to believe there was a better opportunity for learning.

My heart aches for our community and for those who don't have the opportunity to move outside the CCUSD93 District. No one deserves to see their children's education abused in this manner and with such pompous attitude

CCUSD93 is broken, and it's not money that will fix it, we need a new board and DEB BURDICK, JANA MILLER, need to go.

You can't fix stupid but we can vote it out in 2012.

  5. @July 27, your intellectual honesty is a drain. No one is promoting negativity in the public school. It is more about the employees that are running the schools into the ground. You are probably one of them trying to protect your job. Most parents' agenda is to make the public schools better so that our kids can go back to public school. What is your agenda? We all agree when schools are bad our property values decrease. We are all trying to improve it but you wouldn't have it. Any kind of criticism to the public school and school employees like you start attacking the messenger. You are working for us so stop complaining (attacking) and improve our schools so we can send our kids back. BTW, there is no facts distortion. It is all there if you have the intellectual integrity to absorb it.

  6. I'm not sure I can count the times I went to the District office with comments, suggestions and plans...for too many. After being made fun of by them and their employees I left the District. My life has always been about learning, growing and making this better for everyone. I have moved to Explorer and couldn't be happier with the education being received. It is HEARTBREAKING for me to pull away from this District, but it was crystal clear that this Board and Administration do not want to get better but just protect each other. My wish is they would see the challenge and turn it into an opportunity and fix the ship. I have many friends that cannot change schools because of schedules and bus availability so believe me...I want it fixed for them.
