So I presume that all the "no" voters carefully considered all the hardworking, dedicated teachers who will now lose their jobs at the end of this school year? Many of these teachers have put in many hours off contract (that means without pay)and paid for items needed in their classrooms with personal funds. Some of the teachers affected are close to retirement and even IF they can find a teaching position elsewhere, their retirement income will take a big hit because they will have to start near the bottom of another district's pay scale.
You no voters need to realize two things: 1. The school taxes you currently pay are one of the lowest among school districts in the Phoenix area by several hundred dollars a year. 2. You think your no vote will get the attention of district administration and/or governing board. None of them will lose their positions. Only people who serve where your kids are taught will go away. maybe you should have thought that through a little bit better.
Just for the record, I am a teacher. I do not, nor have I ever, taught in CCUSD. I interviewed there once and I'm extremely glad I didn't get the job.
I think the focus should not be on the "no voters" but on the fact that if your parents voted "yes" it would have passed. If I was a parent of a CCUSD 93 student I would wonder why parents did not show up to vote and why there were not more "yes" votes. The challenge in Cave Creek will not be resolved until you figure out why parents don't show up.
Ding Ding Ding we have a winner NOv 9 6:09am! It is time for Deb Burdick to go!
She has alienated this school district from the parents and the community and the continuous loss of her overrides show's it.
The sad part is she will continue to collect her paycheck, her pension, her car allowance at the children's expense!
If the board wishes to turn this district around start with her and ending her contract and her lies! You'll have my attention then until then I'm no votex2
I resent the idea that if one votes "no" they don't support the school district. Every property owner supports the district twice every year. Once for the spring tax payment and once in the fall for the same. The administration has to get past the idea it is okay to be over budget every year for ever--that is what a budget override is--spending past your limit. But yet there is always plenty of money to be spent on those horrible vote yes signs that have littered the roads for months. Stay within your spending limits.
What a bunch of idiots are the Cave Creek voters. A prize best school district in Maricopa County and they vote NO to continuing the existing override. An override that 75% of all school districts in the State of Arizona pay to maintain mediocre funding in our state that is 49th in the US for funding. In addition they continue the administration bashing in a district that is below normal in spending on administration expenses. Never mind that they pass audits year after year with flying colors. It looks like the only things Cave Creek voters can say yes to is their pride of the city, WalMart. How fitting of a brainless community in dire need of education. You blew it Cave Creek, watch your home values plummet as everyone move s away to better districts. Enjoy your WalMart. Absolutely brilliant!!
