Cave Creek Unified math choices hurt at both ends


We have commented in the past how Everyday Math and Connected Math are poor curriculum choices becuase the programs lack differentiation and how this hurts advanced students who are held back from moving forward.

A recent op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer points out that these programs also hurt those with special needs.

Poor Curriculum Choices‏ in Cave Creek Unified

The US Department of Education finds that the Cave Creek Unified middle school math program Connected Math has no effectiveness on math achievement.

CMP was found to have no discernible effects on math achievement.

Compare this to Saxon Math a program that Cheyenne Traditional in SUSD and many charters use.

Saxon Middle School Math was found to have positive effects on math achievement.
